Our Mission

Phoenix Community Services, Inc.’s mission is to enhance the lifestyles of low-to-moderate income children, youth, families, and communities through education, prevention, and advocacy programs. We shall accomplish this through cooperative activities and awareness campaigns with churches, businesses, individuals, and other organizations.

Our Vision

Our vision is that the most effective way to advance children and youth’s development is to also work with their parents, other family members, friends, and their communities at-large. The positive growth we see in the young people we work with is evidence to us that our approach and practices are sound and effective and our external, evaluation data also supports this observation.

Who We Are

Leadership Profile

In January 2012, Glenda McComb, MBA founded Phoenix Community Services, Inc., a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization. Ms. McComb served for 12 years as Director of Operations for Healthy Oakland and Regional Director for Healthy Communities, Inc. (HCI); a nonprofit organization that started in 2001 and is based in Oakland, California. Ms. McComb also worked as a Project Manager; serving California, Oregon, Arizona, and Connecticut for Health Net, Inc. and served 5 years as the department manager for Global Government Services at First Data Bank, Inc. in South San Francisco, California. She worked in the pharmacy department at Duke University Medical Center for 5 years prior to moving to California where she worked in the inpatient pharmacy at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco for 10 years. She went on to work 3 years as a Pharmacy Technician Instructor at Western Career College (Carrington College) in San Leandro and worked at TakeCare Health Plans and Aetna Health Plans in pharmacy operations.
